Yanko Iliev will lead Team Bulgaria in Loznica

Bulgaria will send eight boxers to the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22 and their Yanko Iliev will lead the team.

Their boxers competed in preparation events as the Dracula Open Tournament in Romania, the Adriatic Pearl Tournament in Montenegro, the Lah Nimani Tournament in Kosovo and in their national competitions as well.

Margarita Parpulova made her international debut only this year following her national titles and she will compete at the women’s 57kg weight class.

Nikol Parvanova just joined the U19 age group this year and she has three years of international routine to keep the focus on a medal in Loznica.

Bulgaria always has strong options in the smallest weight class and their Oktay Nazifov can follow the national traditions in Loznica.

Bulgaria’s best weapon in the U19 team, Yanko Iliev is a European Junior Champion talent who won the Adriatic Pearl Tournament this year and he is among the gold medal favourites at the men’s 55kg.

Bulgaria’s 60kg male boxer, the 18-year-old Antonio Damyanov earned a bronze medal at the 2024 European Junior Boxing Championships and he competed several preparation events in the previous months.

Vladimir Davidov also bagged a valuable bronze at the 2024 edition of the European Junior Boxing Championships which is his career highlight until today.

Maksim Kirillov achieved a silver medal at the Adriatic Pearl U19 Tournament in Budva this March and he was unstoppable also at the Lah Nimani Tournament in Prishtina.

Haskovo’s Dzhan Fikret moved down to the 75kg weight class following his success at the 80kg in the U19 National Championships. The youngster proved his very best at the Lah Nimani Tournament on May where he made a golden debut in his new weight class.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
