Top 17-year-old talents strengthen Team Italy at the European U19 Boxing Championships

The Italians selected four girls and nine boys to participate in the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22 where their young team have several medal prospects.

Mr. Giovanni De Carolis, Mr. Franco Federici, Mr. Giulio Coletta, Mr. Massimilano Alota and Mr. Matteo Nazzareno supported the team’s preparation in the recent weeks.

Their boxers competed in preparation events as the Dracula Open in Romania, the Bornemissza Memorial in Hungary, the Olympic Hopes in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brandenburg Cup in Germany and the World Boxing U19 Future Cup in Thailand this year.

Their four girls are medal favourites in the European U19 Boxing Championships in Loznica where Korynne Favi will be their new hope at the women’s 51kg weight class.

Martina De Felice (57kg), Rachele Perna (60kg) and Swami Ferdinandi (65kg) are more experienced female boxers than Favi and all of them have the real potential to win medals in the city of Loznica.

Imad Bouraouia was born in a real boxing family and he will represent Italy at the men’s 50kg weight class but their 55kg talent, the last year’s silver medallist from the European U19s, Tommaso Orlando is a top pick in the squad.

Daniele Fabi, Giuseppe Cavallo, Alessio Ballarin and Francesco Di Palmo are all spending their first year among the U19 boxers but they have the routine to beat strong rivals in Loznica.

Matteo De Micco competed already three Europeans during his career and he won several international tournaments to shine at the men’s 70kg weight class in the upcoming championships.

Tiberio Nocadello achieved a bronze medal in the last edition of the European U19 Boxing Championships and the 18-year-old moved up to the 80kg this year to earn another career highlight in Loznica.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
