Titleholders and super talented youngsters involved to Team Georgia for the European U19 Boxing Championships

Georgia registered four female and eight male boxers to the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22 and their talents have gold medal expectations in the event.

Their boxers competed in the World Boxing U19 Future Cup in Bangkok this March where the Georgians earned one gold and two silver medals.

Georgia hosted the Akaki Kakauridze U19 Tournament this May which was also another successful event for them and a selection for the European U19 Boxing Championships.

The three-time Europeans competitor Nino Bekauri, Nazi Shakarashvili and Anzhela Momtselidze claimed a silver medal at the Kakauridze U19 Tournament three months ago and they were selected to compete at the European U19 Boxing Championships.

Lika Bukia bagged a gold in the Kakauridze Tournament and she has the strong family traditions to reach a top result at the women’s 60kg in Loznica.

The European U17 bronze medallist Shalva Beridze is only 17-year-old but he has more than 140 bouts during his career and he is one of the aces of the men’s 50kg in the continent.

Emil Ismailovi achieved a bronze medal at the World Boxing U19 Future Cup and he has also the brilliant technical skills to reach the final stages at the 55kg in Loznica.

Georgia’s talent at the 60kg, Sandro Kapanadze is also 17-year-old as Beridze and Ismailovi but he has more than three years of routine in the international competitions.

Luka Chkhikvadze and Akaki Basaria are titleholders at the European U19 Boxing Championships and the duo return to the event to defend their thrones.

Davit Mkhetsadze was a gold medallist at the World Boxing U19 Future Cup while Zurab Oboladze bagged a bronze in Thailand.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
