Poland’s next top event, the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament will start on August 23 after the European U19 Boxing Championships and the finals are scheduled to be held on August 29.

The registrations are in progress for the upcoming 21st edition of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament which will take place in Gliwice, Poland next month.

All of the National Federations can register their delegations, coaches, boxers and Referees & Judges until August 15.

The Silesian Women’s Open Tournament is the most anticipated international competition in Poland and Gliwice is famous of its boxing traditions.

The international female competition will be held for the women’s elite, the U19 youth, the U17 junior and the U15 schoolgirl talents in Gliwice and due to the upcoming main goals, high number of countries are expecting to take part.

The Event Director Mr. Henryk Wilk is the engine of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament who launched the competition to develop female boxing in Poland.

The first edition of the Silesian Women's Open Boxing Tournament was held still back in 2006 with the participation of a few neighbouring countries but the brand became bigger and stronger each year.

The Silesian Open Tournament will be a preparation event for the European Elite Boxing Championships, the European U17 Boxing Championships, the World U19 Boxing Championships and the Asian Games.

Several strong, but young elite female boxers such as Serbia’s Olympian Sara Cirkovic, Ireland’s Niamh Fay, Slovakia’s Tamara Kubalova, Poland’s Amelia Kostrzewa and Norway’s Sofia Stigen Sorensen earned gold medals at the 20th edition of the Silesian Women’s Open Tournament in Gliwice one year ago.
