The returning Nguyen Thi Tam and Lin Yu Ting are finalists at the Asian Games

Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Tam and Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yu Ting also joined the finals at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan during the tenth competition day.

Altogether 34 nations have entered to the boxing event of the Asian Games and eleven champions will be crowned in Japan. The number of the female boxers is 76 in five divisions, while 119 male athletes will fight in six categories.

The women boxers are able to compete at the 51kg, 54kg, 60kg, 65kg and 75kg weight categories, while the men’s divisions are the 55kg, 60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and +90kg.

Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, DPR Korea, Indonesia, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen are the registered teams to the Asian Games.

China’s Wu Yu, the reigning Olympic Champion, was highly confident in the entire Asian Games and she can prepare to her final in Aichi-Nagoya following her success over Uzbekistan’s Feruza Kazakova at the women’s 51kg.

Vietnam’s two-time Asian Champion Nguyen Thi Tam was not able to qualify for the Paris Olympics due to her injuries but she is back on track with top performance. The 32-year-old boxer outpointed Kazakhstan’s World Champion Alua Balkybekova and she joined the final of the tough 51kg.

Chinese Taipei’s Olympic Champion Lin Yu Ting moved up to the 60kg weight category this year and she controlled her semi-final against Uzbekistan’s Sitora Turdibekova therefore she can meet for the title of the Asian Games a Chinese athlete, a former World Champion, Yang Chengyu.

India’s Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain had a tough but successful battle against another World Champion, Natalya Bogdanova of Kazakhstan but she could expect a hard final at the 75kg against China’s Bao Ziyi.

Japan’s Rui Yamaguchi impressed in the preparation events of the Asian Games and the youngster had the strong performance to beat Mongolia’s Bilguunsaikhan Kharkhuu in a technician and tactical battle at the 55kg. Yamaguchi’s final opponent will be Philippines’ Carlo Paalam who had a surprise success over Kazakhstan’s Makhmud Sabyrkhan.

Makhmud’s younger brother, another World Champion, Torekhan Sabyrkhan did not underestimate Uzbekistan’s Shavkatjon Boltayev and he joined the final of the men’s 70kg weight class where his last opponent will be Jordan’s Zeyad Eshaish.

Uzbekistan’s Turabek Khabibullayev eliminated his main rival, another World Champion, Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Oralbay and he had an easy job against India’s Kapil Pokhariya. The Uzbek 90kg boxer will be meeting for the title with China’s Han Xuezhen who had a tight victory over Tajikistan’s Parviz Karimov.
