The qualification system for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games has revealed – 248 spots, 14 categories and four chances for all of the boxers

The qualification system for the boxing tournament of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games is revealed today, the number of the spots in our sport is unchanged, 248 places are available for the event.

Based on the International Olympic Committee’s Gender Equality, the number of the female quotas is 124, same as the men, also 124 spots for the Los Angeles Olympics. The total number of the weight categories is 14, seven for the women and seven for the men.

All of the women and men boxers will have four chances to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games in 2027 and in 2028.

There are 234 quotas in these four qualification events for the boxers, there are six spots available for the host country and eight universality places, wild cards will increase the total number of boxers in LA to 248.

The first qualification event will be the World Boxing Championships next year which is scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan.

The second option for the boxers will be the five Continental Qualifiers in each continent in 2027 and in 2028: Asia, America, Africa, Europe and Oceania.

The third possibility will be the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualification Event in 2028, which will be followed by the last chance competition, the 2nd World Olympic Boxing Qualification Event before the Olympic Games.

- Women’s 51kg: 18 quotas

- Women’s 54kg: 18 quotas

- Women’s 57kg: 20 quotas

- Women’s 60kg: 18 quotas

- Women’s 65kg: 18 quotas

- Women’s 70kg: 16 quotas

- Women’s 75kg: 16 quotas

- Men’s 55kg: 18 quotas

- Men’s 60kg: 18 quotas

- Men’s 65kg: 20 quotas

- Men’s 70kg: 20 quotas

- Men’s 80kg: 16 quotas

- Men’s 90kg: 16 quotas

- Men’s +90kg: 16 quotas
