
The promising boxing nations won contests in the European U17 Boxing Championships on Day1
The promising boxing nations such as Albania, Kosovo, Belgium, Lithuania, Moldova and Czech Republic also won battles in the first competition day in the European U17 Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro.
Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine are the participating 40 nations to the European U17 Boxing Championships.

Ukraine’s Oleksandra Mishchenko is a top name at the women’s 48kg weight class and she began her campaign well against Italy’s Annalisa Palumbo. The Italian was competitive in the second round but the Ukrainian responded with a strong finish to win their meeting in Budva.
Azerbaijan’s hope at the 66kg, Yusif Hasanli dictated the tempo against Portugal’s Adrian Silva and he had the massive advantage on the judges’ scorecards after two rounds. The referee counted the Portuguese boxer in the third round which guaranteed Hasanli’s victory in this preliminary contest.
The Rome-based Raul Barone claimed a silver medal at the 2024 edition of the European Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Banja Luka and he had altogether 69 contests, including 60 victories before the event in Budva, where he opened his participation with a superb success over Germany’s Tyron Aluebosele.
Hungary’s Hunor Asztalos was too experienced for Switzerland’s Portimao Box Cup winner Dijon Sula in the next 66kg preliminary bout in Budva. The Swiss, who is one of the youngest athletes in the entire event, used counter-attacking style of boxing but the Hungarian ruled the exchanges.
The Czechs progressed this year and their boxers earned good results and medals in the recent European U19 and European Elite Championships. Their U17 talent, Pavel Dusanek landed his punches from his safest distance to beat Turkey’s Muhammet Baran Celik at the men’s 66kg.
Turkey’s Baturalp Cevik, who European Schoolboy Champion from 2024, had a hard first round against Hungary’s Attila Jozsa in the Round of 32 at the 70kg weight class. The Turkish, who earned a bronze in the last edition in Kienbaum, had a strong last period to eliminate the tall Hungarian today.
Albania’s Graciano Shoshi surprised Romania’s Robert Gilea with his effective punches in the first round and he could still increase his tempo in the second. The Albanian caught his experienced opponent two-times in the second round and the referee confirmed his RSC victory in this 70kg meeting.
Lithuania’s Nikolajus Kazancevas controlled all of the three rounds against Sweden’s Casper Lindahl and he managed his pathway to the Round of 16. Italy’s Niccolo Battaglia made the next strong performance at the 70kg weight category, he was too smart for Bulgaria’s Simeon Spasov today.
Azerbaijan’s Hidayat Mammadov had a strong pedigree from the past and he demonstrated his power against Israel’s Demid Klochko at the 70kg. His teammate, another power Azeri athlete, Yusif Aghakishiyev eliminated Romania’s Eduard Tangerica at the 75kg weight category.
Moldova’s 75kg hope, Andrei Timoscov used his excellent footwork to beat Bulgaria’s Vladimir Varnadzhiev, dominating all of the three rounds. Germany’s Artur Mangold, the last year’s quarter-finalist, controlled his opener against a strong Italian, Roberto Miglietta and the host nation’s Veselin Dedic also made a good start in this busy weight.
Ireland’s Sean Kelly had a tough opponent as first, Armenia’s Gagik Grigoryan, but he controlled all of the three rounds with nearly perfect performance. The next favourite at the 54kg weight class, Spain’s multiple international tournament winner Elijah Sanchez dominated his opener against Lithuania’s Ilja Makarevicius.
Kosovo’s Riad Mziu had a surprise success over Hungary’s Laszlo Khalil at the 60kg weight class but Albania’s Arbion Allaraj, Ireland’s Christy Joyce, Azerbaijan’s Ali Abasli, Spain’s Aitor Ibai Gomez-Espinosa and Bulgaria’s Maxim Mihaylov also impressed in this division.
