The host Latakia claimed seven gold medals at the Syrian Elite National Championships

The Syrian Elite National Championships for the men boxers took place in the Sports Education Hall in Latakia where the local regional athletes claimed seven gold medals.

The number of the participating elite male boxers was 107 in the Syrian Elite National Championships and several of the international level pugilists shined in the competition.

The capital Damascus, Rural Damascus, Daraa, Homs, Aleppo, Police, Army, Quneitra, Tartous, Latakia, Al-Hasakah, Deir ez-Zor, and the Railways sent teams to the annual Syrian Elite National Championships.

The competition supported the boxers to increase their ring experience and the national event was a preparation and selection for the upcoming Asian Games.

Aleppo’s Abdulrahman Sheikh Dees claimed the first gold medal of the National Championships, he defeated Latakia’s Karam Lassoun at the minimumweight.

Police’s first gold medal was achieved by Yahya Dawaji who had a clear success over Army’s Malik Sheikh at the flyweight.

Latakia’s Asian Championships competitor Mohammad Ali Baddour had the experience to beat Damascus’ Jaber Othman at the bantamweight, but another national team member, Bilal Joukhdar suffered an unexpected loss to Mohammad Ahmad at the featherweight.

Latakia’s next Asian competitor, Haidara Al-Asaly won the important welterweight final against Police’s Almumin Billah Al-Qais and he has strong chance to continue his participation in the international events.

Latakia’s Arab Championships silver medallist Ammar Haidar started his career with tournament titles among the junior and youth boxers and he had a strong performance to beat Aleppo’s Yazan Bani Al-Marja at the middleweight final.

Police’s Issa Hamida defeated Ali Shar Khalaf at the busy light heavyweight while Latakia’s Jaafar Ismail bagged the heavyweight gold medal after beating Tartous’ Roberto Al-Kzeir.

Farouk Al-Junaidi robbed to Syria’s boxing life during the Covid-19 period in 2020 at the age of 17 and he moved up to the super heavyweight this year. The Army boxer used his powerful combinations to beat Police’s Mohammad Zainab in the last final of the national event.
