The big guns as Testa and Shadrina will meet in the finals of the 60kg in Obrenovac on Sunday
The big guns as Irma Testa of Italy and Natalia Shadrina of Serbia will meet in the finals of the 63rd edition of the Belgrade Winner Tournament in Obrenovac on Sunday.
The Belgrade Winner Tournament is a perfect preparation option for the main goals of the year such as the European Elite Boxing Championships which will take place in Sofia this September, the Commonwealth Games, the Panamerican Boxing Championships and the Asian Games.
Turkey’s European U23 Champion, Nurselen Yalgettekin impressed in her semi-final against Ukraine’s Solomiia Lyniv and the referee stopped their bout in the second round. Hungary’s Lilla Szeleczki also won her bout by RSC therefore the two youngsters will meet each other once again after the final of the European U23 Championships.
Serbia’s veteran Nina Radovanovic returned to the Olympic style boxing from the professional world and she had the routine to beat Hungary’s U23 national team member Laura Horvath today therefore she will now face Bulgaria’s Zlatislava Chukanova for the gold of the women’s 51kg.
South Korea’s Paris Olympics bronze medallist Im Ae Ji gave in everything against Wales’ Helen Jones and she earned a well-deserved success at the women’s 54kg therefore she can prepare the final against Turkey’s Nilay Yaren Cam.
Italy’s No.1, the multiple champion Irma Testa had a comeback to the international stage of boxing yesterday and she proved an even better performance in the semi-finals against another Montenegro’s Olympian Bojana Gojkovic at the 60kg. The Italian will be boxing with Serbia’s veteran Natalia Shadrina for the gold medal.
Turkey’s Havvanur Kethuda, the European U19 Champion and Youth World Champion, is a newcomer in the elite national team but she needed less than one minute to beat Serbia’s Natalija Simic at the women’s +80kg.
Philippines’ Clark Vicera had a great march in this Belgrade Winner Tournament and he was still able to beat Kazakhstan’s rising star, Nurzat Ongarov as well and he has only one rival for the title of the 50kg, Turkey’s Salih Samet Oruc.
Cuba’s Luis Enrique Vinent competed in the last edition of the World Boxing Championships but he lost in the first preliminary round. The Cuban worked much better in the entire Belgrade Winner Tournament, he progressed tactically a lot which he had to show to Philippines’ Paul Julyfer Bascon. The Filipino caught the taller Cuban in the first round and he had the dangerous right-handed jabs to take the control of this semi-final. Bascon overcame the Cuban several times with heavy punches but surprisingly Vinent won their meeting today.
Bulgaria’s Viktorio Iliev, Montenegro’s Milos Roganovic and Ukraine’s Olympic Champion Oleksandr Khyzhniak all won remarkable semi-final contests in Belgrade, delighting the crowd in the venue.
Turkey’s experienced Berat Acar was energetic in all of the three rounds against Kazakhstan’s young Aslan Yeldibayuly and he will now meet Ukraine’s Vasyl Tkachuk for the gold medal at the super heavyweight.
