Sweden selected six boxers to the European U19 Boxing Championships

Sweden selected six boxers to participate in the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22.

The Swedish boxers earned several medals in various top events in the previous years especially in the U17, U19 and U23 levels of the European Championships.

One of their former elite national team members, Babacar Kamara, Amir Smesem and Joel Grandell will lead the squad and they selected the participating boxers to Loznica.

Their boxers competed in a few preparation events including the Nordic Boxing Championships and the Brandenburg Cup in Germany.

Siri Magnusson competed at the Golden Girl Box Cup, the Art of Boxing Cup, the Nordic Boxing Championships and the Swedish U19 National Championships to increase her number of bouts.

Their Medina Zaman of Haninge BK is the best hope for a top result in Loznica among their female boxers, she has the routine and enough number of bouts to beat the best rivals and to earn a medal in the city of Loznica.

Paradisia Smesem is the youngest in the women’s team, the 17-year-old competed in the last edition of the European U17 Boxing Championships in Kienbaum as well where she reached the quarter-finals.

Hammarby’s Ali Zaheer Changazi made strong progress this year among the U19 boxers following his bronze medal in the European U17 Boxing Championships therefore he is a medal hope in the men’s 55kg weight class in Loznica.

Wilmer Ekblom Olsson won several key contests in the international events this year including a bout against Hungary’s European U17 Champion Istvan Czifra and he could be a surprise at the men’s 65kg. Djurgardens’ heavyweight talent, Moses Bazzi also involved to the travelling team as the sixth member of the delegation.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
