Strong German medal hopes in Loznica

Germany registered fourteen boxers with medal hopes to participate in the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22.

Mr. Andreas Schulze is the head coach of the German U19 national team and he arranged the team’s preparation in the recent weeks.

Germany hosted the last edition of the European U17 Boxing Championships on December 2025 and the Brandenburg U19 Cup on July 2026. Several of their heroes from the European U17s will take part in the upcoming European U19s in Loznica.

Germany’s 51kg female boxer, Josefin Rovira Rifaterra turned 18 this year, she shined in the 2025, and the 2026 editions of the Brandenburg U19 Cups, beating strong rivals make herself as a medal contender in Loznica.

Charlotte Kienel won two contests at the World Boxing U19 Future Cup in Thailand, reaching the quarter-finals and the 17-year-old is ready to earn a medal in Loznica.

Katalina Yaso (54kg), the European U19 competitor Xenia Scharapinski (60kg) and the European U17 bronze medallist Sofia Waschenko (65kg) also have been added to the squad.

Their 17-year-old talent at the men’s 65kg, Oliver Herz was a quarter-finalist in the European U17 Championships last December therefore his target is at least a medal this time.

Dietrich Hermann is a tall boxer with long reach at the men’s 80kg and he won the Danas Pozniakas Tournament and also the Brandenburg U19 Cup this year.

Yanis Heger (70kg), Justin Kiz (75kg), and Ahmed Abdulgamidov (+90kg) all won the Brandenburg U19 Cup last month and the trio is also among the medal favourites in the upcoming Europeans as well.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
