Strong Czech developments at the European U19 Boxing Championships
Czech Republic is a developing boxing country but their boxers increased their levels, technical and tactical skills which guaranteed for them two medals at the European U19 Boxing Championships in Loznica.
Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine are the participating nations in Loznica.
The Czechs hosted the 2025 edition of the European U19 Boxing Championships and the country claimed one gold medal in the city of Ostrava last October.
The Czech exceeded the expectations with their progress in this new edition of the European U19 Boxing Championships, their Matej Machalik won three contests in Loznica which arranged for him a medal in the event. Their new talent got an illness and unfortunately, he is not able to fight in the semi-finals but his bronze medal is an important highlight for him in his boxing career.
Their outstanding woman boxer Hanan Salmi defeated her Turkish opponent in the quarter-finals of the Europeans and she joined the semi-final stage of the competition at the women’s 75kg and she has strong chance to succeed in the seventh day of boxing.
Jan Sykora was injured before the quarter-finals which was another bad luck for the Czechs in this event but he proved also strong development in Loznica.
The Czechs will compete also with strong women boxers at the European Elite Boxing Championships in Sofia next month. Some of their female athletes are medal contenders among the elites as well despite their young ages.
