Netherlands’ Alex Scholte has just moved up to the elite age group this January but the 19-year-old talent tried to put Portugal’s Gabriel Afonso on pressure and his efforts were enough to in the second and third rounds to eliminate a local boy at the 70kg.

Palestine’s Asian Games competitor Nidal Foqahaa had a tight loss to Spain’s Yerai Delgado in one of the best elite contests of the day. Switzerland’s southpaw Mika Reichen was punctual against England’s Dexter Synnuck and he won the next elite contest at the 70kg.
