Shields stops Scott, reclaims WBC and WBA middleweight titles
Claressa Shields (19-0, 4 KOs) reclaimed the WBC and WBA World titles, stopping in round six on Saturday night in Atlanta, Australia’s Kaye Scott (5-2-1).
Shields, the current undisputed heavyweight champion, dropped three weight classes to fight at middleweight for first time since 2023. She was undisputed champion in middleweight also.
"This was a really hard camp," said Shields, a five-division champion who won Olympic gold in 2012 and 2016. "I cut 38 pounds. I was at 198 pounds and got down to 160. This is the most disciplined I've been since the Olympics, I feel like."
Shields has also been undisputed champion at superwelterweight, making her the only woman to be undisputed across three weight classes.
Asked whom she wants to fight next, Shields called out unified welterweight champion Lauren Price and also named Tamm Thibeault, who holds the WBO and IBF middleweight belts.
