Serbia is aiming for medals at the European U19 Boxing Championships on home soil

Serbia selected 13 boxers to participate in the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica on August 11-22 and the host country is ready to impress after several great results among the junior and youth events.

Serbia will have four young girls and nine boys in the squad and most of them are spending their first year among the U19 events.

Mr. Branislav Jovicic, Mr. Jorge Matos Frometa, Mr. Miodrag Damjanovic, Mr. Vojin Stankovic and Mr. Zarko Radovic are supporting the team’s preparation as coaches.

The Golden Gloves of Vojvodina was their last preparation event, but the team competed also at the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament in Hungary and the Olympic Hopes Tournament in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Natasa Lukic and Jovana Devetakovic both are only 17 and they competed in the level of the European Junior Boxing Championships in the past. Dunja Vuksic and Sonja Vuksic are also members of their current U19 female squad and they are ready to make surprises in the front of their fans.

Serbia’s 17-year-old prodigy, the European Junior Champion Pavle Popovic was named as the Best Male Boxer of the 44th Golden Gloves of Vojvodina U19 Tournament in Subotica and he has strong gold medal expectations in Loznica as well.

Serbia’s next ace in the event could be the European Youth bronze medallist Nikola Bogatinoski bagged a valuable silver medal at the recent Bornemissza Memorial Tournament in Hungary and he lost only to a strong French boxer in the final of the 60kg.

Vuk Milenkovic claimed only a silver medal at the Golden Gloves of Vojvodina Tournament but he has a strong potential at the men’s 90kg.

The European Junior bronze medallist 17-year-old Zejd Gicic will represent Serbia at the super heavyweight in Loznica. Filip Stanojevic, Petar Sandic, Vasilije Djordjevic, Nikola Jovicic and Djordje Djoric all have international experiences from the past.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
