Queensberry wins Sheeraz, Alimkhanuly purse bid

Queensberry have won the purse bid for WBO World super-middleweight title fight between champion Hamzah Sheeraz (24-0-1, 19 Kos) and mandatory challenger Janibek Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs).

Queensberry offered a bid just over $1 million but was enough to win. Possible dates are November 28 or December 5. London or Birmingham in UK and New York in USA were proposed by Queensberry.

Sheeraz is set to pocket 75% of the purse, with Alimkhanuly taking the other 25%.

Alimkhanuly’s promoter Top Rank bid $820,000

The WBO ordered Sheeraz to defend his title against Alimkhanuly last month despite the 33-year-old not having fought since April 2025 when he failed a drugs test, testing positive result for meldonium.
