Olympic and World Champions shined in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Cup in China

Olympic gold medallists and defending World Champions advanced to the finals of the second stage of the World Boxing Cup in Guiyang, China today.

Altogether 299 boxers are participating for the 20 gold medals in China where all of the top countries, Olympic Champions and Word Champions are participating this week.

Uzbekistan’s Farzona Fozilova controlled all of the three rounds against Poland’s Angelika Krysztoforska in their semi-final bout at the 48kg which means the Central Asian will be able test her skills against India’s Jyoti in the final.

China’s Olympic Champion Wu Yu, her Youth World Champion teammate, Bao Ziyi and one of the best male boxers of the host country, Zhang Jiamao secured their places in the finals of the World Boxing Cup.

Italy’s Sirine Charaabi and France’s Wassila Lkhadiri had a hectic fight, both received warnings from the referee but the first had the better technical skills to win their semi-final at the 54kg. The Italian will be meeting for the gold medal with Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay who had a close success over Thailand’s Asian Champion Natnicha Chongprongklang.

Chinese Taipei’s Olympic Champion Lin Yu Ting had a tight success over China’s Yang Chengyu using her longer reach to beat the local hero. Lin will be meeting with Kazakhstan’s Asian Champion Viktoriya Grafeyeva for the gold medal of the women’s 60kg.

China’s Yang Liu, the World Champion and the Olympic medallist, had brilliant technical performance against Australia’s Lekeisha Pergoliti therefore the 34-year-old veteran will now meet France’s Maelys Richol for the title of the women’s 70kg.

Uzbekistan’s Olympic Champion Abdumalik Khalokov is aiming for his second gold at the Asian Games this September and on that road he defeated a superb boxer in Guiyang, Bulgaria’s Radoslav Rosenov at the 60kg to meet Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira in a dream final.

Kazakhstan’s World Champion Ablaikhan Zhussupov was confident against Jordan’s Zeyad Eshaish and he managed his path to the final of the men’s 70kg where India’s Deepak will be his last opponent for his next gold medal.

The defending World Champion of the 90kg, Turabek Khabibullayev eliminated his main rival, Nurbek Oralbay already in the preliminary stage, and he had the full dominance against China’s Han Xuezhen and the Uzbek will now face England’s Isaac Okoh who eliminated Azerbaijan’s Olympic silver medallist Loren Berto Alfonso today.

Germany’s Nikita Putilov, the European U22 Champion, worked hard from the first round to beat Uzbekistan’s Arman Makhanov in the super heavyweight semi-final and he can meet Kazakhstan’s World Champion Aibek Oralbay for the title.
