North Macedonia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Finland and Czech Republic also have medallists after the quarter-finals in Budva

Northern Macedonia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Finland and Czech Republic have also medallists in the European U17 Boxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro after the quarter-finals.

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine are the participating 40 nations to the European U17 Boxing Championships.

Lithuania’s Mariama Karlonaite landed the stronger punches than Armenia’s Liana Shahinyan and she stopped her rival on the road to the semi-finals of the women’s 50kg. Serbia’s Jana Nataros won her second fight in Budva today but Romania’s Rebeca Toarta was a tough opponent in their 50kg quarter-final bout.

Ronan Charles, the 15-year-old Irish is a seven-time National Champion with more than 70 bouts during his career and he claimed a silver medal at the 2025 European U15 Boxing Championships. He returned to the city of Budva and he is a medallist once again over there following his quarter-final success over Germany’s Andria Piljiani at the 46kg.

Noah Worth, who trains in the Billingham Boxing Academy, is England’s next 15-year-old pride and he amazed in Budva once again. The 15-year-old English controlled the first and second rounds against Georgia’s Kheiradin Pashaevi and he finished the job in the third round of their 46kg quarter-final.

Piotr Dwojacki, the 15-year-old Polish claimed only a silver medal in their annual U17 National Championships but he received the right to compete in Budva. He won the Braga International Open in Portugal and the Greifenpokal in Rostock during his career and those experiences paid off against Germany’s Edwin Lipko at the 50kg weight class.

Dominik Adamski, another 15-year-old Polish claimed a bronze medal at the 2024 European Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Banja Luka and he earned titles at the Olympic Hopes Tournament in Slovakia and the Braga International Open in Portugal. The young Adamski outpointed Glenn Kindler in the next Poland vs. Germany quarter-final battle.

Montenegro’s Strahinja Mrdak won several international competitions during his career and he began the first round better than Ukraine’s Vladyslav Vasylevich at the 54kg. The Montenegrin landed several uppercuts and other kind of punches in the third round to eliminate the strong Ukrainian and to earn a medal for the host country.

Armenia’s Hakob Sharbatyan maintained the fighting distance well against Ukraine’s Makar Honchar in the first round and he had the strong game play to win a medal at the 50kg. Armenia’s next medal was achieved by Eduard Karamyan who eliminated Ireland’s Christy Joyce at the 60kg with excellent first and second rounds.

The North Macedonian Rustemovski brothers made historic steps in the annual European Boxing Championships, firstly their 22-year-old Alen claimed a bronze medal in Sofia. Secondly, his younger brother, Arabel exceeded the expectations in Budva where he defeated Italy’s Cesare Spaziani in the key 60kg quarter-final.

Italy’s most experienced U17 male boxer, Raul Barone amazed in his third appearance at the European U17 Boxing Championships in Budva. The Italian had a busy year with plenty of events and his routine paid off against Azerbaijan’s Yusif Hasanli in their quarter-final bout at the men’s 66kg weight class.

Czech Republic’s Pavel Dusanek had a better start than Albania’s Alban Pajtoni and he was able to keep the same rhythm in their tight contest which means that he is a medallist at the 66kg. Ireland’s European U15 Champion Thomas O’Reilly proved the next top performance in the day of the quarter-finals, he defeated Germany’s No.1, Artur Mangold at the 75kg.

Finland’s Lila Paaso is their best U17 female boxer who competed in various events in the previous years but she had to meet Russia’s Monika Beliavskaia in the quarter-finals of the women’s 52kg weight class. Finland’s new prodigy found her best tempo in the first round and she exceeded all of her previous level to beat the Russian in Budva.

Poland’s Nadia Kosciolek prepared well against Ukraine’s Veronika Khaliuta and she shocked her opponent in the first round with heavy combinations. The referee counted the Ukrainian which determined the Polish success while Azerbaijan’s Jamila Muradli also secured a spot in the semi-finals of the women’s 57kg.

Greece’s Alexandros Konstantinoudis, the former European Schoolboys silver medallist, found his best tempo in the second minute against Hungary’s Levente Varga, a one-year-younger opponent. Varga was fresh and energetic in the third round but he was not able to turn back their tight contest which delivered a medal for Greece at the 48kg.

Azerbaijan’s Ismayil Nasirzade had a fantastic second and third rounds against Israel’s Gleb Greenblat and he became a medallist at the 52kg weight class in Budva. England’s Shiloh McLeod had the full dominance over Italy’s Arturo Maltoni and the referee stopped their unequal quarter-final in the second round.
