No rematch clause for Fury vs. Joshua super-fight
Two former heavyweight champions Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) do not have a rematch clause in the deal for their super-fight that will be held on December 11 in Cardiff.
Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, told “Sky Sport News” that contractually is only one fight.
There's one big fight. It was designed for that.
"I'm not saying there can't be a second fight. But, if Tyson wins, we'd like to resume things with [Oleksandr] Usyk as well."
Defeat though could usher either Fury or Joshua out of the sport.
"They're all close to the end of their careers," Brown said. "Whoever loses here, where do they go? That's a tough one. Where do they go afterwards?
Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, believes the right kind of fight could lead to a second bout with Fury.
"No rematch clause. It's one fight, one-off. Listen, if it's a blockbuster, I'm sure they'll do it again," Hearn told Sky Sports News. "But for our mindset, it's one and done.
"Go in there, end this guy and on we go."
The press conference for the super-fight was held last week, but Fury and Joshua were surprisingly cordial and respectful of each other as they went face-to-face.
