Nekic, Amanmedov and Peinado won their meetings in La Nucia on Day2

Serbia’s Dusan Nekic, Turkmenistan’s Yazgeldi Amanmedov and Spain’s Cristina Peinado were among the winners of the Boxam U15-U17-U19 Tournament in La Nucia, Spain today where 51 contests were on the official program.

Spain’s U17 prodigy, Nora Gonzalez had the advantage on the judges’ scorecards after two minutes of fight but Puerto Rico’s Ezeiris Hernandez turned up the heat in the second. The Spaniard tried to adopt that rhythm as well and she opened the third round with tough punches therefore Gonzalez advanced to the next stage of boxing at the 48kg.

Serbia’s Dusan Nekic moved a lot on feet to find the best counter-attacking positions when he met Robert Gilea of Romania at the 66kg of the U17 age group. The Serbian gained the immediate control of the bout and he felt the distance in the first and two rounds which guaranteed his superiority. Nekic finished the bout in the third round before the last gong and he proved his fantastic future potential in our beloved combat sport.

Jose Mercado, one of the best Mexican U19s, had a strong start against Spain’s Ayoub El Mousaoui but the local boxer came back to the bout with better performance in the second. The 55kg Mexican, who trains in Sinaloa, found his way back to the right direction in the third round and he eliminated the local hope in La Nucia.

Turkmenistan’s next ace, Yazgeldi Amanmedov delivered the next sensational performance in La Nucia, the U19 talent stopped Mexico’s Tirzo Mendoza in a quick bout at the 60kg. Spain’s European U19 competitor Rodrigo Sanchez had a tight success over Puerto Rico’s Jesfred Torres in the same busy weight category.

Ognjen Staletovic and Vuk Beletic met in an important selection contest for a spot to the European U17 Boxing Championships and their talents met in a neutral place at the Boxam to make the decision. Staletovic worked harder from the first seconds and his efforts in the second were delivered a stoppage, an RSC victory for him at the 52kg. 

Spain’s Cristina Peinado, the European U19 Championships bronze medallist, overcame her teammate, Ainara Garcia in the attacks and she had the lead on the judges’ scorecards after three minutes. The 17-year-old Peinado had stronger and more punctual punches in the second round of their 57kg bout and Garcia’s ringside abandoned the contest.
