Lkhadiri, Luther, Siala and Roskowicz eliminated favourites in Guiyang today

France’s Wassila Lkhadiri, United States’ Marcus Luther, Germany’s Mohamed Siala and Poland’s Bartlomiej Roskowicz all defeated favourites at the second stage of the World Boxing Cup in Guiyang, China today.

Altogether 299 boxers are participating for the 20 gold medals in China where all of the top countries, Olympic Champions and Word Champions are participating this week.

Kazakhstan’s World Champion Alua Balkybekova had a hard job against Venezuela’s veteran Irismar Cardozo but she managed the success at the 51kg. Another Kazakh World Champion, Nazym Kyzaibay acclimatized quickly to the 54kg and she was too smart for Poland’s Wiktoria Rogalinska today.

Spain’s World bronze medallist Laura Fuertes had several injuries since the Paris Olympics but she is not only healthy now but she was in top shape to beat Brazil’s Radija Gama in their 51kg meeting today.

Uzbekistan’s Feruza Kazakova and Germany’s Maxi Kloetzer know each other very well and this time the first won their contest at the 51kg. France’s Romane Moulai was too smart for a youngster, Mexico’s Youth World Champion Valeria Amparan and she has the chance to fly higher in Guiyang.

Chinese Taipei’s World Champion and Olympic medallist Huang Hsiao Wen had a smaller opponent at the 54kg, France’s Wassila Lkhadiri but she looked too static today to suffer an unexpected loss from the World bronze medallist French.

Thailand’s Asian Champion Natnicha Chongprongklang is in her best ever form in Guiyang and she controlled her second contest in the event against England’s Lauren Mackie to join the next stage at the women’s 54kg weight category.

United States’ 19-year-old Marcus Luther exceeded the expectations and he bowed out one of the gold medal favourites, Brazil’s Yuri Falcao Reis at the 65kg. Mongolia’s Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt eliminated his Uzbek opponent in the first preliminary round but he was not enough shape against Germany’s Mohamed Siala today.

Moldova’s best male boxer, Alexandru Paraschiv arrived to Guiyang with strong plans to show his real skills after he missed the quota for Paris. The Moldovan overcame Ireland’s Dean Clancy in the attacks several times and his tactical ripeness guaranteed the success for Paraschiv.

Poland’s Bartlomiej Roskowicz achieved a bronze medal at the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships but he could not make a real breakthrough among the elites until today. The 22-year-old Polish controlled surprised Japan’s Shion Nishiyama in the first round and he had the strong commitment to deliver a success.
