Lily Bassett and Team England plan to fly high in Loznica

England selected a super strong team to the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22 where the country is aiming for several gold medals.

Ten out of the sixteen boxers were born in 2009 and those will have the right also to compete in the 2027 edition of the European U19 Boxing Championships as well.

Their boxers competed in the World Boxing U19 Future Cup in Thailand with successes and the country was the No.1 in the last European U19 Boxing Championships in Ostrava last October as well.

The 17-year-old Lily Bassett is a multiple European Champion and one of the biggest stars of women’s boxing in the entire world and her amazing strength makes her the main favourite at the women’s 48kg weight class.

Siobhan Haley also bagged a gold medal at the 2025 edition of the European Junior Boxing Championships in Kienbaum as Bassett and she is a favourite again at the 57kg.

Serena Mali, Jaya Kalsi, Rihanna Holden, Shannon Warren and Thabiso Moyo all claimed medals in the last year’s Europeans which make the female team one of the most strongest ones in the entire continent.

Michael Maughan was a gold medallist in the recent European Junior Boxing Championships and the 17-year-old has strong potentials also in Loznica.

England produced several icons at the super heavyweight, and their new talent Jonathan Edwards has the athletic skills and the strength to make a breakthrough in the international stage in Loznica.

Brayden Dyer, Rueben Huczmann, George Francis, Yashua Flemming, Kai Cairns and Albe Dowell all have the technical skills to earn medals in the event.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
