Jakimova and Vilkas will lead Team Lithuania at the European U19 Boxing Championships

Lithuania has finally selected 12 boxers to the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22.

The participating Lithuanian national team contains three female and nine male boxers and several of their talents have medal hopes in the city of Loznica.

One of the former Lithuanian star boxers from the 1990s, Vidas Biciulaitis and Ramunas Kulbis support the preparation of the strong U19 team.

Lithuania hosted the Danas Pozniakas U19 Tournament this March where their young talents from the 2008-2009 age groups claimed four gold medals in the front of the home crowd. All of the four winners have been selected to participate in the European U19 Boxing Championships.

Their boxers competed in the Brandenburg Cup in Germany which was their last preparation event and the Lithuanians earned one gold and one bronze medal on that international competition in July.

Jelizaveta Jakimova is the ace of the U19 national team, she earned already medals in the European Junior Boxing Championships and she finished her active preparation with a gold medal at the Brandenburg U19 Cup. The 18-year-old prodigy is one of the gold medal favourites at the women’s 54kg weight class in the upcoming championships.

Daumantas Vilkas moved back to the 90kg weight class which delivered for him a silver medal at the 2025 edition of the European U19 Boxing Championships in Ostrava therefore he has also strong expectations.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
