Hungary’s Petriman, Kiss, Gombai, Czifra, Turos and Domjan all have the international routine to take medals in Loznica

Hungary selected 11 boxers to participate in the upcoming European U19 Boxing Championships which will be held in Loznica, Serbia on August 11-22.

Four girls and seven boys will compete in Loznica and one of their aces, the Bornemissza Tournament winner Andras Horvath suffered a hand injury before the start of the Europeans but hopefully he will recover until the U19 World Boxing Championships.

Mr. Jozsef Acs, Mr. Lajos Nagy, Mr. Arnold Turos, Mr. Laszlo Toth, and Mr. Gyula Bozai Snr. will be the coaches of the team during the event.

The Hungarians claimed only one bronze medal in the last edition of the European U19 Boxing Championships in Ostrava therefore their target is higher in Loznica.

Their boxers competed in several preparation events this year such as the Dracula Open in Romania, the Bornemissza Memorial Tournament on home soil, the Golden Gloves of Vojvodina in Serbia and the Brandenburg U19 Cup in Germany.

Patricia Petriman is the most experienced female boxer in the U19 national team who claimed already medals in the European Championships among the U15 and U17 age groups. The 18-year-old promising boxer earned the title at the Brandenburg U19 Cup in her last preparation competition before Loznica.

The European U17 silver medallist Zsofia Kiss qualified for the Youth Olympic Games as well therefore Loznica could be her important preparation event for Dakar. Nora Illes and Eszter Toro both earned gold medals at the Golden Gloves of Vojvodina this June and the duo will return to Serbia to compete in the Europeans.

The Junior World bronze medallist Dominik Gombai (55kg) and the reigning European U17 Champion Istvan Czifra (65kg) are strong medal hopefuls in Loznica.

Two of their powerful talents from the 2009 age group, Levente Turos defeated the best Kazakh boxers at the Bornemissza Memorial while the European U17 bronze medallist Alex Domjan also have all of the skills to earn medals in Loznica.

The 17-year-old Laszlo Papai (50kg), the experienced Gyula Bozai Jr. (85kg) and the Golden Gloves of Vojvodina winner Andras Gyoni (90kg) are also members of the team.

The European U19 Boxing Championships have strong prestige but it will serve also as preparation for the U19 World Boxing Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.
