France, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Turkmenistan and Venezuela shared the U15 titles at the Boxam Tournament

France, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Turkmenistan and Venezuela shared the gold medals in the U15 age group at the Boxam U15-U17-U19 Tournament in La Nucia, Spain today.

Palestine’s Atef Al-Shareef won his second contest in the Boxam Tournament today, he was too smart in the exchanges to Puerto Rico’s Adel Santiago and he advanced to the final of the 60kg among the U17 boxers. Spain’s Aitor Ibai Gomez-Espinosa won the second semi-final in this weight class, he eliminated New Zealand’s promising Rihari Holmes-Ngatai in a hectic contest.

Mexico’s Alan Ocampo eliminated France’s Sami Jeddi in the first quarter-final of the men’s 50kg in the U19 age group. The second winner of the quarters was another Mexican, Gael Rivas and his teammate, Marco Rivera also reached the last four after beating Noa Sanchez of France. The fourth and last semi-finalist in this busy weight class will be Ukraine’s Mykhailo Sydorenko who has been preparing for the Youth Olympics.

Turkmenistan’s Yunus Masharipov had some tactical issues in the first round against Portugal’s Adrian Silva but he switched into a higher tempo in the second during their 66kg semi-final. The 16-year-old Turkmen controlled the decision-making third round and he secured his spot in the final of the Boxam Tournament. Masharipov will now face France’s Ange Santiago for the gold medal of the 66kg weight category in the U17 level.

Portugal’s duo as Artemiy Polunochev and Rodrigo Silva defeated their Spanish and Polish opponents to take the gold medals in the U15 level, proving their strong developments. Poland’s Krystian Hauf, and Mexico’s Santiago De La Luz and Romania’s Rudolph Hrenciuc also reached the top of the podium in their finals.

Mexico’s Genesis Cruz won the first U15 final in La Nucia, the Central American was dominant against Spain’s Julia Navarro at the 52kg. Mildred Salazar, another Mexican talent in the U15 age group, landed the better punches in her final bout against Yensi Ramirez and she claimed the gold at the 42kg weight class.

Mexico’s Sofia Alonso was never stopped attacking against Serbia’s Nina Damjanovic and she had the solid advantage on the scorecards after two rounds. The Mexican enjoyed the last round and despite the efforts from the Serbian side, Alonso was able to win their 48kg final bout with great performance.
