Former two-time world champion killed in South Africa

Former two-time world champion Zolani Tete was shot and killed outside his home in South Africa. He was 38.

Gayton McKenzie, South Africa's sports, arts and culture minister, said Tete was killed in his car and that a 27-year-old woman who was in the vehicle with him was shot multiple times and is hospitalized.

Police said the shooting took place at Mdanstane, Eastern Cape on Friday. Tete was ambushed by two armed suspects wearing balaclavas.

Police revealed that two men were taken in questioning on Sunday regarding the murder of Tete.

Tete held the WBO bantamweight title from 2017 to 2019, as well as the IBF super-flyweight title in 2014.
