Canada’s No.1, Tammara Thibeault returned with a triumph in Guiyang

Canada’s World Champion and No.1 in women’s boxing, Tammara Thibeault returned with a triumph in the second stage of the World Boxing Cup in Guiyang, China today.

Altogether 299 boxers are participating for the 20 gold medals in China where all of the top countries, Olympic Champions and Word Champions are participating this week.

Thailand’s Asian Champion Natnicha Chongprongklang and United States’ No.1, Yoseline Perez had to face already in the preliminary round of the women’s 54kg weight class and the Southeast Asian controlled the contest with her technical skills.

Italy’s Sirine Charaabi defeated Ireland’s Jennifer Lehane and she won the battle of the Olympians at the 54kg. Kazakhstan’s World Champion Nazym Kyzaibay moved up to the 54kg weight class this year and eliminated a superb opponent, South Korea’s Im Ae Ji.

Chinese Taipei’s World Champion Huang Hsiao Wen had a hard but successful mission against India’s former Youth World Champion Poonam at the 54kg. Chinese Taipei’s next hero, their best male hope for the future, Peng Chia Feng outpointed Turkmenistan’s Meylis Shadurdyyev at the men’s 55kg.

Another ace in women’s boxing, Canada’s World Champion Tammara Thibeault returned to the international stage after the unsuccessful Paris Olympics and she defeated another strong opponent from the Americas, Venezuela’s Maryelis Yriza.

China’s experienced Zhang Jiamao had a brilliant performance against Venezuela’s Andres Cova at the men’s 55kg while his teammate, Xin Jin had a tight success over Canada’s Gabriel Labrie at the 65kg weight class.

Australia’s Jye Dixon and Georgia’s European Youth Champion Gor Ayvazyan both were born in 2005 and the first won the meeting of the youngsters. United States’ 19-year-old Lorenzo Patricio was too smart for Singapore’s Clayden Teo in the next 55kg bout.

Mexico’s Christopher Santos had to do his very best to beat Germany’s Ali El Sari at the men’s 55kg before his teammate at the 65kg, Hugo Barrion stopped Singapore’s Caelan James Clark in the second round, landing dangerous combinations.

France’s Hugo Grau eliminated Spain’s Olympian Oier Ibarreche in a hectic contest which was the highlight of the preliminaries of the 65kg. Kyrgyzstan sent a strong team to Guiyang and their Asian bronze medallist Mirzokhid Imamnazarov controlled his first fight against Georgia’s Levan Demurovi.

Mongolia’s Bat-Ulzii Erdenetsogt caused one of the biggest sensations when he defeated Uzbekistan’s Mirkomil Saytokhunov at the 65kg. The next Uzbek, Turabek Khabibullayev succeeded against Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Oralbay in the battle of the World Champions.
