Cacace relinquishes IBF belt, Nunez vs. Rikiishi expected to fight for vacant title

Anthony Cacace (23-1, 8 KOs) has decided to relinquish IBF World super-featherweight title.

He said he wants to fight biggest possible fights, regardless of the belt on line.

“Today I have decided to vacate my IBF world title,” Cacace said on Friday via social media. “Becoming a world champion was an absolute dream and an incredibly proud moment for me.

“However , at this stage of my career, I only want the biggest fights possible, regardless of the belt on the line.”

After Cacace’s decision now Mexico’s Eduardo Nunez (27-1, 27 KOs) is expected to fight Japan’s Masanori Rikiishi (16-1, 11 KOs) for vacant IBF World title.

Cacace, who is also IBO World super-featherweight champion, won IBF belt in May last year, stopping Joe Cordina in round 8 in Riyadh.

He defended IBO World title belt in September, beating via unanimous decision Josh Warrington. IBF belt was not at stake in this fight.
