Altogether 34 nations and 195 boxers will fight for the 11 titles at the Asian Games with Olympic and World Champions on its line-ups

The Asian Games will be a parallel event with the European Elite Boxing Championships and the competition will be starting in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on September 21.

Altogether 34 nations have entered to the boxing event of the Asian Games and eleven champions will be crowned in Japan. The number of the female boxers is 76 in five divisions, while 119 male athletes will fight in six categories.

The women boxers are able to compete at the 51kg, 54kg, 60kg, 65kg and 75kg weight categories, while the men’s divisions are the 55kg, 60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg and +90kg.

Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, DPR Korea, Indonesia, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Yemen are the registered teams to the Asian Games.

The Olympic Champion Abdumalik Khalokov, Fazliddin Erkinboyev, Turabek Khabibullayev, Jakhongir Zokirov, and Navbakhor Khamidova are the biggest gold medal hopes for Uzbekistan in this Asian Games.

Makhmud Sabyrkhan, Torekhan Sabyrkhan, Nurbek Oralbay, Aibek Oralbay, Alua Balkybekova, Nazym Kyzaibay, and Aida Abikeyeva all claimed World titles during their career and they will strengthen Team Kazakhstan in Aichi-Nagoya.

The Chinese women’s team is one of the strongest ones in the entire world and their Olympic Champion Wu Yu, World Champion Yang Chengyu and Youth World Champion Bao Ziyi are their main gold medal hopefuls in the Games.

The Indians have a super strong female squad with several World, Commonwealth and Asian Champions on their line-ups but their males are also progressed this year.

The multiple World Champion Pang Chol Mi and Won Un Gyong are the bests in Team DPR Korea, but all of the other girls and their experienced male boxer, O Tae Bom are ready to make surprises in the Games.

Chinese Taipei’s fantastic trio such as Lin Yu Ting, Huang Hsiao Wen, and Chen Nien Chin all earned World titles and Olympic medals during their career.

The girls are amazing in Thailand’s line-ups, included the veteran Chuthamat Raksat, Natnicha Chongprongklang, the Asian Champion Punrawee Ruenros and the Olympic medallist Janjaem Suwannapheng.

Philippines will arrive also with a strong team included their three Olympic medallists as Carlo Paalam, Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio as well.

The host Japanese has the World Champion Sewon Okazawa in their line-ups and other favourites who earned medals in the World Boxing Cups.

Kyrgyzstan’s historic Olympic medallist Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu will return to their national squad, and the South Koreans and the Mongolians have several medal expectations in this Asian Games.

Bahrain, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Vietnam all have medal favourites in the boxing event of Asian Games.
