
Agreement reached for WBO title fight between Bivol and Smith
World Boxing Organization announced that a agreement have been reached between team of light-heavyweight champion Dmitrii Bivol (25-1, 12 KOs) and mandatory challenger Callum Smith (31-2, 22 KOs).
Date, venue and full event details will be announced soon, WBO said.
“The WBO World Championship Committee have received written confirmation from RCC Boxing, on behalf of WBO Light Heavyweight ChampionDmitrii Bivol, and Matchroom Boxing, on behalf of Mandatory Challenger Callum Smtih, advising that the parties have reached and agreed terms, including date and venue, for the WBO Light Heavyweight Mandatory Championship Contest”, WBO said.
“Accordingly, the WBO Will defer to the parties to formally announce Bivol vs. Smith championship contest, including the agreed date, venue, and other event details, in due course. The WBO appreciated the cooperation and professionalism of all parties throughout the negotiation process”.
An official close to negotiations told BoxingScene that the fight will take place on December 12 in Russia, the home nation of champion Bivol.
